GOVERNMENT LIAISON OFFICER

Based in Port Moresby and reporting to the Manager Government & External Relations, for developing and maintaining strong relationships between Ok Tedi Mining Limited (OTML) and government stakeholders at national, provincial, and local levels. The role supports compliance with government regulations, facilitates effective communication, supports stakeholder engagement strategies, and contributes to the development and maintenance of an integrated management system software for stakeholder engagement and management.
Your role will involve:
- Acting as a primary liaison between OTML and key government agencies and regulatory bodies;
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with government officials to advocate for OTML's interests in policy discussions and regulatory matters;
- Ensuring OTML complies with all relevant government regulations, policies, and legislative requirements, including obtaining necessary permits and approvals;
- Developing and maintaining a stakeholder management system to track government engagements, commitments, and compliance requirements;
- Preparing reports and updates for management on government relations, policy changes, regulatory compliance; and Supporting corporate social responsibility (CSR) and community initiatives by aligning government engagement with OTML's external relations strategy.
- To be considered, you must possess the following: Tertiary level qualifications in Public Administration, Political Science, Land Administration, Law, Business, or a related field;
- Minimum 5 years of experience in government relations, stakeholder engagement, regulatory affairs, or external relations, preferably in the mining or natural resources sector; Strong knowledge of government structures, land administration, and regulatory frameworks in Papua New Guinea;
- Experience in stakeholder management software or digital engagement tools is an advantage.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills;
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders; and Willingness to travel for government and stakeholder engagements.
