MGR TECHNICAL/LABORATORY UNDER CONTRACT BETWEEN PT AR & USU

MANAGER TECHNICAL/LABORATORY

This position is yearly contract basis, will be based at USU – Medan office, and reports directly to the contract owner (USU representative).

  • The role of this position is to manage the technical and laboratory works under the contract between PTAR and USU to achieve agreed outcomes to a high standard in a timely manner. This includes, but is not limited to:
    • Conduct monitoring, analysis and reporting must conform to the PTAR Aquabiotic Monitoring Manual. This may be updated and enhanced from time to time (to be signed-off by both PTAR and USU).
    • Provide monitoring data to PTAR representative using an approved data template within 2 month of the completion of field trips (tissue analysis data in 4 weeks).
    • Provide a complete monitoring report within 6 weeks of the completion of field trips. This shall conform to a template provided by PTAR, reviewed and signed by the contract owner (USU).
    • Act as a point of liaison with PTAR in order to provide continuity of oversight.
  • At least once per year, PTAR shall implement an independent audit of monitoring, data management, analysis and reporting conducted under this contract. The audit shall provide a numerical score of compliance with the PTAR Aquabiotic Monitoring Manual. This audit shall include both field work and laboratory work done under this contract. The position roles in this area are to:
    • Develop and submit an audit action plan to address any / all audit findings within 2 weeks of issue of the audit report. The proposed corrective actions and target completion dates shall be reviewed by the auditor. Once agreed by all parties, progress in implementing the audit action plan shall be reported each month to PTAR by USU.
    • With all parties including the field team, review the audit findings and agreed action plan, in preparation for a new field sampling event, to ensure that the chance of recurrence in the upcoming work is minimised.

Candidates for this role would be expected to have the following qualifications and experience:

  1. Formal qualifications in ecology or a relayed discipline, with some specialisation in aquatic ecology.
  2. Formal training in statistical analysis and experimental design.
  3. Experience in field sampling related to aquatic ecology.
  4. Experience in aquatic biota sample processing (laboratory analysis).
  5. Demonstrated data analysis and reporting skills.
  6. In addition to fluency in Bahasa Indonesian, good verbal fluency in English.
  7. High level competency in personal computer applications including Excel, Word, Power Point.
  8. Knowledge of general safety aspects.
  9. Experience in the management of field teams, as well as team development.
  10. Self-directed to achieve individual, team and organisational goals.
  11. Can initiate and effect change and achieve required results.
