This is an exciting time to join Phu Bia Mining. Our Phu Kham Copper-Gold Operation is in its fifth year of production, our Ban Houaxyai Gold-Silver Operation commenced production in 2012 and we have a pipeline of exploration projects in Laos.

Senior Catering Trainer

This position is based at our Phu Kham Copper-Gold Operation, located approximately 120km north of the Lao capital, Vientiane. Phu Kham is a conventional open pit mine producing approximately 65,000 tonnes of copper concentrate annually. The process plant, recently upgraded to a design capacity of 16 million tonnes per annum, comprises a SAG mill and two ball mill grinding circuits, each rated at 13 mega watts, with copper and precious metal recovery by flotation.  

You will work closely with the Head Chefs and other supervisors to develop, implement and facilitate training packages and assessments for Lao catering, camp and housekeeping staff. Occasional travel to our other mining operation will be required to ensure best practice catering, food hygiene and safety standards are consistently applied. We are seeking an energetic catering professional with proven experience in training and developing large teams. 

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Develop and implement comprehensive catering training
• Deliver 'hands on' training and performance assessment of Lao National staff
• Investigate opportunities to implement Certificate III and IV in catering operations
• Personally mentor and coach high potential Lao employees
• Act as a leading member and a subject matter expert in catering and catering training and participate in safety investigations as required 

To be successful in this role, you will require: 

• Considerable experience as a Chef or Catering Manager in a large-scale, site-based catering operation highly desirable
• Strong knowledge and experience in HACCP/food safety standard
• Proven background in developing and implementing training material
• Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
• Outstanding interpersonal skills and commitment to coaching our employees
• Unwavering safety focus
