This is an exciting time to join Phu Bia Mining.  Our Phu Kham Copper-Gold Operation is in its fifth year of production, our Ban Houaxyai Gold-Silver Operation commenced production in 2012 and we have a pipeline of exploration projects in Laos.

Emergency Response Supervisor

Reporting to the Regional Emergency Response Superintendent, you will provide effective leadership and training to our Lao National Emergency Response team to ensure Phu Kham achieves a high safety standard, through education, identification, assessment and control of departmental risks and minimisation of emergency situations. This is a great opportunity to demonstrate your skills in developing and delivering safety training to achieve a high level of safety and job competency, critical to the development of the Lao national workforce.

Your key responsibilities will include: 

• Ensure the availability of equipment and other resources necessary to respond appropriately to emergency situations
• Continue research and observation to reduce safety and health risks and harm to PBM employees and contractors
• Work closely with other senior staff of the Safety and Sustainability departmental to optimise the delivery of safety and sustainability services
• Provide advice to department heads on measures to minimize the occurrence of emergency situations such as fire and hazardous materials spills
• Implement inspection programs for fire prevention and control equipment
• Supervise the emergency response team to deliver reliable and skillful response to incidents
• Contribute to the identification of potential emergency scenarios at each site
• Implement the agreed schedule of training and drills to refine and maintain the skills of the ER team
• Contribute to the planning and execution of crisis management exercises

 To be successful in this role, you will require: 

• Diploma or degree level qualification in a relevant discipline
• Recognised qualifications/accreditation in mining emergency rescue training
• High level of energy, integrity and personal commitment to safety 
• Strong commitment and proven experience in training and developing an emergency rescue team
• A high level of interpersonal and cross cultural skills
• Commitment to supporting the growth of National employees
