This position is based at our Phu Kham Copper-Gold Operation, located approximately 120km north of the Lao capital, Vientiane. Phu Kham is a conventional open pit mine producing approximately 65,000 tonnes of copper concentrate annually. The process plant, recently upgraded to a design capacity of 16 million tonnes per annum, comprises a SAG mill and two ball mill grinding circuits, each rated at 13 mega watts, with copper and precious metal recovery by flotation.
Reporting to the Mobile Maintenance Shift Supervisor, you will play a key role in daily maintenance and repairs for all mechanical systems of our mobile plants including Caterpillar trucks and Komatsu excavators to maximise the mechanical availability.
This position will work one-on-one with Lao national, tradespeople and technicians in a multinational team. Your coaching skills will be critical to the ongoing development and performance of the relatively inexperienced, but very keen and willing, local Lao workforce. This position is predominantly based at the Lao-German Technical College in the Lao capital of Vientiane where our Trades Apprenticeship Program is primarily delivered. You will have the choice to work either in a residential or fly in, fly out roster and the package includes a housing allowance for accommodation in Vientiane, so that you have the freedom to enjoy the attractive expatriate lifestyle the city has to offer. This includes modern housing options, an impressive range of restaurants, gyms, day spas, sports clubs and weekend getaways.
Reporting to the Trades Training Superintendent, you will play a key role in the management of our Trades Apprenticeship Program that commenced in early 2013. You will not only be responsible for supervising the apprentices on a daily basis but will also be the main point of contact to maintain positive relationships with external parties including Lao-German Technical College and Lao Government Officials.
Your strong knowledge and prior exposure in managing a similar program would be significant to initiate and deliver continuous improvements for the design, curriculum, training packages as well as the facilities to house the program. This position is mainly based at our Phu Kham Copper-Gold Operation but will also support the Ban Houayxai Gold-Silver Operation and the Trades Apprenticeship Program in Vientiane.
Reporting to the Trades Training Supervisor, you will play a key role in developing and delivering the electrical and instrumentation training programs, predominantly for our Lao tradespeople and trades apprentices. You will also need to provide guidance and mentor them in their on-the-job training and skills enhancement processes. As the system has not been fully implemented, you will be required to actively assist in the development of relevant training packages in line with the business requirements.
Your outstanding leadership and coaching skills will be critical to your success in developing the relatively inexperienced, but very keen and willing, local Lao workforce. This is an excellent opportunity to really make a difference and see they grow and develop as a direct result of your efforts.
