Manager Community Development PT Kelian Equatorial Mining (KEM)

PT Kelian Equatorial Mining (KEM) is an Indonesian incorporated Company owned 90% by Rio Tinto Group of England and 10% by PT Harita Jayaraya of Indonesia. KEM operates a large open pit gold mine and processing facility at Kelian, 210 km North West of Balikpapan in East Kalimantan. Manager Community Development

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting to General Manager Mine Closure, the responsibilities include:

• To lead a community development team in the implementation of a sustainable development strategy through involvement of self help groups in the community.
• To maintain good relations with the community, Government, academics, NGOs, media and the Rio Tinto Foundation.
• To manage community health, education, infrastructure and business development projects.
• To develop and maintain effective two- way communication and good relationships with the community through regular meetings with community leaders and groups, newsletters and other media.
• To manage and develop local community offices.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Highly motivated individual with a strong commitment to safety.
• A degree, preferably a master degree (S2), in social or economic sciences.
• A minimum of 10 years experience in senior community development roles, both in the field and in management.
• Strong communication ability and proven track record in developing and maintaining relations with communities at all levels, government, academics, media and NGOs.
• Demonstrated leadership ability, integrity and commitment to high standards of personal behaviour.
• Able to communicate with staff at all levels and work as part of a team.
• Good oral and written English skills, minimum TOEFL scores 550.

Remuneration:
A competitive remuneration package including site allowance and medical assistance will be offered to the successful candidate. You will work in Kelian site on 3 weeks on site and 1 week off site roster with company provided airfare to your point of hire for rest periods. You will be provided with excellent facilities including full messing, medical and recreation facilities while on site.
